People do not understand or appreciate that COVID's evolution is headed in a very dangerous direction. The mutations are occurring in the body of the virus with greater frequency and are likely working to break through the last line of the immune system's defense. This week the CDC admits that COVID weakens the immune system without acknowledging it in those words directly. The CDC did say that the risk of fungal infections is increasing from COVID infections because of its impact on the immune system. These fungal infections are more frequently resistant to anti-fungal medications. We will review what some of these fungal infections are, the connection to the increasing deaths from pneumonia, and the novel ways that the new variants of COVID are working to defeat the immune system.
